Kappilly Mana: The paternal house of Shankaracharya

Kappilly Mana is one of the two Namboothiri ancestral homes in Kalady that holds historical and spiritual significance related to the life of Adi Shankaracharya. The families of the Kappilly and Thalayattumpilly Manas were among the few who assisted Adi Shankara in performing the cremation of his mother, Aryamba, a task he undertook himself despite the social taboos of the era. This Mana represents the traditional architecture and deeply rooted culture of Kerala Brahmins during that period, preserving the legacy of the families who supported Shankara in his early days.
